SUKIMA lab Inc. (“we”, “us”) considers the protection of personal information a top priority and handles personal information in accordance with the following privacy policy.

In this policy, “this website” includes the corporate website operated by us (https://sukima-lab.jp/) and our “Datsu-SaaS” service website (https://datsusaas.sukima-lab.jp/).

This policy is also provided in Japanese. If there is any discrepancy between the Japanese version and this English version, the Japanese version prevails.

1. Definition of Personal Information

“Personal information” in this policy refers to personal information as defined in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information: information about a living individual that can identify the specific individual through name, date of birth, or other descriptions contained in the information (including information that can easily be matched with other information to identify a specific individual).

2. Information We Collect

We collect personal information through the following methods, within the scope of the purposes below:

  • Through our contact form (name, company, email address, phone number, position, inquiry details, etc.)
  • Through service contracts (information necessary for invoicing and contract management)
  • Through recruitment applications (information in resumes and CVs)
  • Visit records from our analytics tool, limited to records of visits in which an inquiry was completed (Article 8(1))

3. Purpose of Use

We use the personal information we obtain for the following purposes only:

  • Responding to inquiries and consultations
  • Providing services, making proposals, and fulfilling contracts
  • Sending information related to our services
  • Communications related to recruitment screening and hiring
  • Compliance with laws and protection of our rights and assets
  • Limited to visit records from our analytics tool in which an inquiry was completed (Article 8(1)): improving this website and analyzing the paths that lead to inquiries (aggregating page views, clicks, scrolling and contact form operations)

The purpose “improving this website and analyzing the paths that lead to inquiries” applies only to those visit records. Except where required by law, we do not use those visit records for any purpose other than this analysis (for example, we do not use them to respond to inquiries, make proposals or send information). We also do not use other personal information obtained by other means, such as the content of an inquiry, for this analysis.

4. Disclosure to Third Parties

We will not disclose personal information to third parties without the consent of the individual, except in the following cases:

  • When required by law
  • When necessary to protect a person’s life, body, or property
  • When providing necessary information to subcontractors for business purposes (under appropriate confidentiality agreements)

5. Security Measures

We implement organizational, personnel, physical, and technical safeguards to prevent the leakage, loss, or damage of personal information and to ensure its safe management.

6. Requests for Disclosure, Correction, or Deletion

When we receive requests from individuals regarding the disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, or suspension of use of their personal information, we will respond promptly within reasonable scope.

7. Use of Cookies

This website uses cookies and mechanisms by which your browser stores information (such as “session storage,” a temporary storage area that disappears when you close the tab, and “local storage,” a storage area that stays in your browser; together with cookies, “cookies, etc.”) to display the site, to analyze usage and to improve our services. Information obtained through cookies, etc. does not include information that by itself identifies you, such as your name or email address. You can refuse to accept cookies or delete cookies, etc. through your browser settings, but some services may not function properly as a result. Please note that deleting or refusing cookies, etc. does not stop the measurement by our analytics tool in Article 8(1).

The cookies, etc. used on this website are as follows:

  • A cookie that remembers your language selection (corporate website; kept for about one year)
  • Our analytics tool in Article 8(1) (corporate website): does not use cookies; it uses session storage.
  • Google Analytics in Article 8(2) (Datsu-SaaS service website): uses cookies and similar technologies.
  • The spam prevention tool on our contact forms (Article 9): may store cookies or similar data on your device in order to determine whether a submission is unwanted.

8. Analytics Tools

(1) Our own analytics tool (corporate website)

To improve the usability of our corporate website (https://sukima-lab.jp/, including its English pages) and to analyze the paths that lead to inquiries, we use an analytics tool that we develop and operate ourselves. The tool sends records directly from your browser to a server we contract in Japan; it does not send information to any external analytics or advertising service. The information is handled by us (SUKIMA lab Inc.). No confirmation screen is shown: measurement starts automatically when you open a page.

  • Information we collect:
    • The pages you view (recorded by an ID we assign to each page; we do not collect URLs or search terms)
    • Where you click and which button you click; that a button was displayed on screen; repeated clicks on the same spot and clicks on spots that do not respond
    • How far you scroll
    • How you operate the contact form (that you started typing, the name of the last field you touched, and whether submission started, succeeded or failed; we do not collect what you enter)
    • Page loading performance and the type of any error that occurs (we do not collect the content of the error)
    • The width of your browser window and the height of the page (in pixels), and a device category based on screen width (whether the width is under 768 pixels)
    • How you arrived (search engine, another website, within this site, or direct; we do not collect which website you came from)
    • A random identifier generated for each browser tab (the same identifier is used while you keep using that tab, and it is replaced after 30 minutes without activity or when you close the tab) and a random identifier generated each time a page is displayed
    • The date and time of each of these (to the millisecond)
  • Identifiers across visits: this tool does not use an identifier that recognizes the same person across separate visits.
  • Information we do not collect: what you enter in forms, page content, anything after a “?” or “#” in a URL (such as search terms), referrer URLs, cookies, and your name or email address. We do not currently record your screen or keystrokes (if we do so in the future, we will revise this policy beforehand).
  • IP addresses, etc.: we do not store IP addresses or information about the type of your browser in the analytics database. To prevent repeated abusive submissions, we use, for two minutes, a value converted from your IP address with a secret key to count submissions (expired values are deleted by periodic cleanup). Separately, as part of normal communication when you view this website (including sending records to this tool), your IP address and browser information are recorded in the server’s access logs (see also Article 9).
  • Inquiries: when you complete an inquiry, we attach a reference number to the record of your browsing in that tab (including page navigation, clicks, scrolling and form operations) and count which paths led to inquiries. The reference number is an internal number used only on our analytics screen and is not shown on your screen. Because a visit record with a reference number may be matched by us with the inquiry we receive, using the date and time of submission and similar information, we handle it as personal information (Articles 2 and 3). We do not use this record for any purpose other than the analysis stated in Article 3. In particular, we do not use it to identify you by matching it with the content of an inquiry, your email address, your name or the like, nor for responding to inquiries, sales or making proposals.
  • Browser storage: we do not use cookies. In your browser, we store data only in session storage (a temporary, per-tab storage area): the per-tab identifier, the time of your last activity, how you arrived, and the last button you clicked. It is erased when you close the tab. Deleting your browser’s stored data does not stop the measurement.
  • Retention: visit records are deleted after 90 days, daily aggregates after 13 months, and records of completed inquiries after 90 days. Deleted records may remain in our hosting provider’s automatic backups for up to 14 days under its current specifications; we use the backups only to recover from failures and for no other purpose.
  • Storage and disclosure: records are stored on a server we contract in Japan and are not provided to third parties. Only our administrators can view them, and we do not enter individual visit records into external services such as AI services.
  • If you do not want to be measured: we do not measure browsers on which Global Privacy Control (“GPC”; a setting that tells websites you do not want your information sold or shared) is enabled, whether through the browser itself or a browser extension. Turning off JavaScript or using a content blocker may also stop this tool from running. At present, there is no control on the screens of this website for stopping measurement. If you have questions or comments, please contact us as described in Article 11.
  • Requests for disclosure, deletion, etc.: for a visit record with a reference number, if we can confirm that you are the person concerned, we will respond to requests for disclosure, deletion and the like within the scope we can match (Articles 6 and 11; we match records only to respond to your request). Please tell us the date and time of your inquiry, your name and your email address. Because we do not identify individual visitors for visit records without a reference number, we may be unable to locate the records you request and may be unable to respond.

(2) Google Analytics (Datsu-SaaS service website)

Our “Datsu-SaaS” service website (https://datsusaas.sukima-lab.jp/) uses Google Analytics, an access analysis tool provided by Google LLC (United States; “Google”). No confirmation screen is shown: collection starts automatically when you open a page. Information such as the pages you view, how far you scroll, the display of and clicks on buttons and sections, and your progress through the contact form (we do not send what you enter) is collected through cookies and similar means and sent to Google. We have disabled the advertising features (Google signals and ad personalization). We do not load Google Analytics in browsers with GPC enabled.

We use this information only for statistical analysis to improve the Datsu-SaaS website, and not to identify any individual. For how Google handles information, please see Google’s explanation (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites). You can also disable data collection by adding the “Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on” (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) to your browser.

We do not currently use Google Analytics on the corporate website.

9. Spam Prevention Tool

The contact forms on this website use “Cloudflare Turnstile” (“Turnstile”), provided by Cloudflare, Inc. (United States; “Cloudflare”), to prevent unwanted automated submissions.

When a contact form (including its confirmation step) is displayed, your browser communicates directly with Cloudflare. The information sent to Cloudflare includes the following:

  • Your IP address
  • Information about the type and settings of your browser and device
  • Information about how your browser behaves and is operated
  • Information about the characteristics of your connection
  • Information about the page you are viewing

Cloudflare handles this information to determine whether the sender is a person and to improve that determination function. Cloudflare states that it has no ability to directly identify individuals from the information that Turnstile collects. This information may be handled outside Japan, including in the United States.

The only information we receive through Turnstile is the result of the determination (such as whether it succeeded, the time and the host name). We do not use this result for any purpose other than preventing unwanted submissions. Separately from Turnstile, when you view this website or submit a contact form, your IP address and information about your browser also reach our servers as part of normal communication, and may be recorded in access logs.

We do not hold the information that Cloudflare handles. Please direct any request for disclosure, correction or deletion of that information to Cloudflare. If you contact us, we will let you know how to reach Cloudflare.

For details on how Cloudflare handles information, please see its Turnstile Privacy Addendum and its Privacy Policy.

If you cannot pass the check and are unable to send the contact form, please contact us by email at contact@sukima-lab.jp.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this policy as necessary. The revised privacy policy will apply from the time it is posted on this website.
