Challenge
An experimental project to test whether added value can be created, at minimal cost, in objects that sit between art and product. It also examined how simply the process from prototyping to production could be structured.
Solution
Using 3D printers, we designed a streamlined process from prototyping through production. By manufacturing the production run on printers as well, inventory could be kept to the minimum required based on sales forecasts. The design uses a shared body with interchangeable heads, allowing character variations to be developed by swapping the head alone.
Result
The e-commerce site is now live. Leveraging the interchangeable-head design, collaborations with other IPs are currently being planned.
